Erdemir Steel Service Centre (Ersem) was established on 2 October 2001 by Ereğli Demir Çelik Fabrikaları T.A.Ş. (Erdemir), Türkiye's only integrated flat steel producer. Ersem, whose capital is wholly owned by Erdemir, started its commercial activities in the Gebze Organised Industrial Zone (GOSB) on 1 January 2002.
Ersem started its operations in Gebze in 2002 with a cold slitting line with a capacity of 150 thousand tonnes and a cut-to-length line with a capacity of 100 thousand tonnes. Today, Ersem has a cold slitting line with an annual capacity of 275 thousand tonnes in Gebze, hot cut-to-length lines with an annual capacity of 700 thousand tonnes, hot slitting lines with a capacity of 200 thousand tonnes and laser cutting lines with a capacity of 12 thousand tonnes in İskenderun, multiple cut-to-length lines with an annual capacity of 100 thousand tonnes, angle cut-to-length lines with a capacity of 100 thousand tonnes, hot slitting lines with a capacity of 150 thousand tonnes, cold slitting lines with a capacity of 150 thousand tonnes and hot cut-to-length lines with a capacity of 150 thousand tonnes in Ereğli, cold slitting lines with a capacity of 150 thousand tonnes and cold cut-to-length lines with a capacity of 100 thousand tonnes in Manisa.

2023
- Ersem won the OHS special award with its “Crane Domain Project” at the Common Future Award Program organized by TİSK (Confederation of Employer Associations).
- Ersem ranked 1st in the MESS Occupational Safety Stars Competition with its “Unmanned Crane Application” project in the Digital OHS category, and won an award with its “Mechanical Lock Project” in the OHS Ambassadors category.
- Ersem received an award in the “Star of Industry” category in the “Those Who Add Value to Kocaeli, the Center of Technology and Industry” program organized under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

2022
- Ersem received an award in the OHS Ambassadors category of the Stars of Occupational Safety Awards organized by MESS.

2021
- Ersem was Awarded in Category and Received Two Project Awards in The Gold Suggestion Category in The Mess (The Turkish Metal Industrialists’ Union) OHS Competition.
